One Guy, One Savings Account, One Very Good Idea

Image

Rob O'Niell is born and raised. Del Norte High, class of '78. In 1994 he took every dollar he had put away and spent it on something that probably looked reckless from the outside,  a proper old-world public house, built for the town he grew up in.

He didn't contract it out, either. Rob built the bar himself. The tables, the chairs, the metal work on the walls, all of it came out of his own two hands, the way it would have been done back in the old country. The doors opened that December under his own name.

Thirty years later, they're still open. Thank you, Albuquerque. Come often, bring everyone you know, and let's do thirty more.

You're a Guest in Our House

There's no secret to it. Somebody greets you at the door. Somebody sends you off with a "see you soon." What happens in between is the part we've spent three decades getting right.

Attention to detail has always been the thing that drives this place. Not the fussy kind — the kind where your pint shows up the way it should, your server actually knows the menu, and nobody makes you feel like you're taking up a table.

Good Food

Real chefs in the kitchen. Most everything made from scratch. We build dishes to stand up to our beer and whiskey lists, but they hold their own just fine on their own, too.

Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free guests have real options here, not an afterthought side salad. Tell your server about any restrictions or allergies before you order — they know the menu inside out, and it'll make the whole meal better.

The most noticeable ingredient in all of it is love. We like what we do around here, and it shows.

Honest Drink

Image

The perfect pint. The perfect pour. Delivered by someone who's glad you came in.

That's old-country quality in a room that doesn't take itself too seriously. And because an honest drink shouldn't cost a fortune, happy hour runs 3pm to 6pm, every single day.

Best Dining Patio in Town — And They Voted On It

Image

Readers of Albuquerque The Magazine named our patio the best in the city, and we've done what we can to earn it since. Covered and heated, so it works in January the same as it does in June.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the upper patio. Badly behaved ones, we'll talk about it.

We are traveling with our dog for the holiday. We ate at O'Niell's at 3301 Juan Tabo Blvd NE. Thank you to O'Niell's for having a dedicated dog spot complete with iron dog bones for leash hooks and a water feature that dogs can enjoy. This space is completely separate from their main inside dining and even separate from their other patio. There is a separate outside entrance so no dogs even enter the building. It is so well thought out! They brought a dog bowl with fresh water for our dog and even a home made doggie biscuit! Thank you to our kind server and host. Also...the food is AMAZING! We had the chips and queso. We also had a burger with a side poutine. We also had the buffalo chicken salad. We finished everything off with ice cream and a brownie. Highly, highly recommend this place!

Best Reuben and lamb stew. Service was friendly, fun and inviting. Drink selection and bar was impressive. I highly recommend going here.

From Our Family to Yours

Good Food, Honest Drink is a promise we make to every guest who walks in. If we miss it, tell us — that's the only way we stay honest about it.

O'Niell's is where friends and family come to eat well, drink well, and stay a while. Stop in for an old favorite, something you've never tried, the Chef's Special, or a pint at happy hour.

We'll see you soon. Sláinte.
