art of Rose Buffalo was displayed from March 2 through March 30, 2008.
Artist's Statement
Bridie Dolls
Corn Dollys Pagan Goddess Figures The corn straw contemporary
feminine icons I create were inspired by the ancient European tradition
of the "corn dolly" (corn
being the generic British word for grains, not maize, and dolly
deriving from idol) [which] is poetic and sensuous, rich in effigy was
variously called Wheat Bride, Corn Mother, Hag. Baba, Witch" (from Lucy
Lippard). My passion for them has lasted over 35 years. The very first
came to life in my barn at my beloved Rose Farm in Aromas, Ca.
The have been shown in many
contemporary art exhibits and museums, and are Collected throughout the West. The figures carry a strong spiritual pagan Blessing for you- harvest, love, and family. 30% of Sales Goes to the G.I.
