Artists' Statement
A Sampling of Artists from VSA arts Day Arts Program VSA
arts of New Mexico is dedicated to providing creative learning and
employment opportunities for adults who have disabilities or limited
access to the arts. VSA arts of New Mexico, through the North Fourth
Art Center and outreach programs, offers people with disabilities the
opportunity to create and present artwork in a dynamic and inclusive
environment.
VSA arts of New Mexico owns and operates the North Fourth Art Center, which houses a variety of resources, including extensive visual and performing arts studios, a 140-seat black box theatre, and a newly renovated gallery space. Programming at the center includes literary, theater, video, dance and visual arts classes, providing participants with opportunities to enhance their lives and the community through rich and various interactions with the arts. The arts are the most effective form of communication that exists. Individuals with profound disabilities share and thrive in arts-filled surroundings; artists in repressive environments make cross-cultural works of profound beauty and understanding; communities, buffeted by change, preserve their heritage and celebrate their communities through the arts.
